A multimedia one-person show featuring human rights attorney Eric Sirotken, Executive Producer of the Best Human Rights and Poetry Film of the Year: Committing Poetry in Times of War. Committing Poetry... follows free speech zones, police riots, and poets in the classroom and the streets who band together in support of their First Amendment right to self-expression in a post 9/11 world. It presents Sirotkin's client, high school teacher and poetry slam coach Bill Nevins, who was fired for student expression about the war. Excerpts from the film weave together in an inspirational performance on the power of creativity and social action.
An open mic will follow for all to share their opinions, poetry, or words.
