Former Institute fiction fellow, John McNally, follows up his fifth book and third novel, After the Workshop, with a nuts and bolts guide to life before the workshop and after the workshop or without the workshop, as well as all other aspects of the writing life. The new book is The Creative Writer's Survival Guide: Advice from an Unrepentant Novelist, it's published by The University Iowa Press and I'm about to order my copy, knowing it will be helpful to both my writing and teaching and hoping it will give me the biceps of the square-headed writer on its cover.
