Devil's Lake presents Casey Thayer & Janice Shapiro, Thursday April 7th.

Please join Devil's Lake in welcoming two of our recent contributors for a reading, in celebration of our third issue. This poetry/fiction reading will feature Casey Thayer (forthcoming, spring 2011) and Janice Shapiro (fall 2010).

Casey Thayer received his MFA from Northern Michigan University and has poems forthcoming from American Poetry Review, Ninth Letter, North American Review, and elsewhere. He teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County.

Janice Shapiro
is the author of Bummer and Other Stories. She studied film at UCLA where she won first prize in the Samuel Goldwyn Screenwriting Competition. The short films she directed were screened at film festivals around the world and she was a recipient of an AFI Filmmakers' Grant. She has written scripts for numerous studios and independent producers including the cult film Dead Beat, that she co-wrote with her husband, Adam Dubov. Janice's stories and comics have been published in The North American Review, The Santa Monica Review, The Seattle Review, Fifty-Two Stories, and Devil's Lake. Janice lives in Brooklyn with her husband, son, and dog.
