Congratulations to Terrance Hayes, this semester's Peter Straub Visiting Poet. Terrance was in Madison last week, reading from his work, meeting with students, and generally hanging out. Now this week he's gone and won the National Book Award for his collection Lightheaded.
And in today's NY Times book blog Paper Cuts, an article about Monday night's Jonathan Franzen/LORRIE MOORE reading at the 92nd St. Y.

Creative Writing @ UW
The creative writing community at University of Wisconsin-Madison is large and vibrant, encompassing an undergraduate creative writing track, a top-ranked MFA program, a post-MFA fellowship program, one of the only traditional English PhD programs with an internal Minor in Creative Writing, long-standing reading series, two university press book prizes in poetry, a literary magazine, and a bevy of off-campus poets and writers. See the links below for information on each of these great creative writing communities and opportunities.
Inquiries about any aspect of the UW Program in Creative Writing should be directed to the program coordinator at cwmail@english.wisc.edu
