Lisa Marie Brodsky & Katrin Talbot Read at ROOO

On Thursday July 22 at 6:30 pm, local poets Katrin Talbot (St. Cecelia's Daze, In Which Miss Maybelline is Introduced to the Honorable Dr. Suzuki) and our former MFA poetry student Lisa Marie Brodsky (We Nod Our Dark Heads) will be giving a reading and signing at Madison's independent bookstore A Room of One's Own.

A passion for music and dance is evident in Katrin Talbot's St. Cecelia's Daze, her brand new poetry collection that pays homage to St. Cecilia, the patron Saint of Music. Australian-born Talbot's poetry has appeared in Free Verse, Verse Wisconsin, Eating her Wedding Dress (Ragged Sky Press), Empty Shoes (Popcorn Press), And Again Last Night (Indigo Dreams), An Anthology of Contemporary Love Poems (Blue Fog Journal), Not A Muse (Haven Books), Chopin with Cherries (Moonrise Press),and many others.

Driven by the twin muses of confessional poetry and theatre from a young age, Lisa Marie Brodsky has been published in Atlanta Review, Born Magazine, The North American Review, and The Southern Ocean Review, among others. She won first place in Circle Magazine's poetry contest and honorable mention from the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poetry. She founded and facilitates Inside Out Writing Workshops, which focus on the benefits of emotional healing through creative writing.
