CARl DJERASSI
is the author of five novels (Cantor's Dilemma; The Bourbaki Gambit; Marx, deceased; Menachem's Seed, and NO), a book of poetry (The Clock Runs Backwards), an autobiography (The Pill, Pygmy Chimps, and Degas' Horse), a memoir (This Man's Pills), a trilogy of "science-in-theatre" plays: An Immaculate Misconception, Oxygen, and Calculus, which have been performed and translated around the world, and numerous other plays, including Three on a Couch, Ego, Phallacy, Taboos, and most recently, Four Jews on ParnassusA Conversation. Among his many other accomplishments, he is also one of the few American scientists to have been awarded both the National Medal of Science (for the synthesis of the first steroid oral contraceptive) and the National Medal of Technology.
